Since OS X is a Unix system, and if you are familiar with Linux you already know the command for tracing a IP (or web address). The terminal way of doing this, is just to open terminal and type traceroute google.com (if you want to trace google.com)
The other way us to open Network Utility and click the Traceroute and type in the ip or address of the site you want to trace.
